The Ukrainian portal DeepState, which monitors and cartographically maps the front line, reports that in January the enemy occupied 245 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory—almost two times less than in December or November last year.
Although most soldiers say that January was relatively less intense, the decline in assault activity amounted to only 4% compared with December. The largest share of attacks was recorded on the Pokrovsk axis, which accounted for 33% of all assaults and where the enemy’s main strike was concentrated. The Huliaipole axis moved into second place with 21% of attacks, with the intensity of assaults increasing by 1.75 times. This is followed by the Kostiantynivka (12%), Lyman (8%) and Oleksandrivka (8%) axes. The Sloviansk axis stands out as a negative outlier, where just 3% of assaults accounted for nearly 20% of total territorial losses.
