Alexei Milyukov

Biography

Alexei Milyukov, son of prominent blogger Oleg Zhelnov, was sentenced by the Novopolotsk court to one year and three months in a strict-regime penal colony. He was charged under Article 415 of the Criminal Code for "evading a sentence of restricted freedom." The prosecution’s case relied on trivial incidents, including an "untidy appearance" (refusal to shave), alleged poor work performance, and leaving a tablet unattended. Despite Milyukov possessing audio recordings that contradicted the guards' testimonies and proved his innocence, the court refused to admit them as evidence. Judge Petr Levchonok ruled that Milyukov had failed to "reform," choosing to uphold the conviction based on administrative reports.
